In September 2017, the island of Puerto Rico was hit by hurricane Maria, one of the most devastating storms of the last decades. This category 4 hurricane caused considerable human casualties, estimated around 4600 victims and an economic loss of 100 billion USD.
In response to the destruction of most of the infrastructures, like houses, hospitals or roads, the US government launched a disaster recovery plan to assess the scope of the damages and establish priorities.
JC & Associates, a puerto rican company was chosen for the road surveys by the Department of Transportation of Puerto Rico for its experience and knowledge of imajing solutions since 2015.
Other than the fact that they were fully operational with imajing mobile mapping technology, JC & Associates held surveys and geo referenced data from previous field campains.
